The evening will open with a keynote address by Sir Vince Cable - economist, former Secretary of State for Business and Trade, erstwhile leader of the Liberal Democrat Party and author of Eclipsing the West: China, India and the Forging of a New World, named one of the Financial Times’ Best Economics Books of 2025. Sir Vince will share his perspective on the rise of China as a global consumer superpower and what this means for European businesses looking to expand globally
Sir Vince’s lecture will be followed by a presentation on recent trends in Chinese consumer healthcare markets and an introduction to DoubleWing Health & Beauty (DWHAB), a UK-registered company with a wholly owned Shanghai subsidiary, which is currently raising capital under the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) to fund the launch of established European cosmetic and personal care brands into China’s rapidly expanding health and beauty market.
DoubleWing has secured an exclusive supply partnership with Italy’s leading cosmetics producer and is already live across major Chinese e-commerce platforms including Tmall Global, JD, Douyin and Xiaohongshu. Its China-based commercial team brings senior experience from L’Oréal, LVMH, La Prairie and L’Occitane. EIS Advance Assurance has been granted by HMRC.
The briefing will conclude with a lecture concerning tax-advantaged investment strategies available to high-net-worth UK-resident investors and will be followed by a reception.
