The 48 Group welcomed a senior delegation from Beijing’s Haidian District, led by Party Secretary Zhang Ge,to London from 22 to 24 April. The visit formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen practical cooperation between the United Kingdom and China, with a focus on sharing expertise, fostering policy dialogue, and supporting business engagement in key growth sectors.
As part of the programme, the 48 Group organised a tour of the King’s Cross regeneration area, showcasing the United Kingdom’s globally recognised experience in urban renewal, sustainable development, and integrated planning. The delegation visited a range of landmark projects, including developments at Pancras Square, the King’s Cross masterplan, King’s Boulevard, Coal Drops Yard, and Gasholder Park.These projects illustrate the UK’s ability to combine commercial, residential, and public spaces within a coherent and sustainable framework, offering practical insights into long-term urban transformation. The visit highlighted how UK expertise in planning, design, and sustainability can serve as a valuable reference for international partners as cities adapt to evolving economic and environmental priorities.
On 24 April, the 48 Group convened a high-level LifeSciences policy and industrial development Roundtable, bringing together Party Secretary Zhang Ge alongside senior representatives from leading UK and international life sciences companies,including ProAxsis, Linkerbot, CyberTronic, and MedCity.The roundtable provided a platform for discussion on policy alignment, research collaboration, and commercial opportunities, with a focus on how the UK andChina can deepen engagement across the life sciences value chain.
Building on its longstanding role as a facilitator of UK–China businessrelations, the 48 Group continues to support British companies in accessing international opportunities, including in China’s rapidly developing innovation and healthcare sectors. The discussions underscored the potential forUK expertise in research, regulatory frameworks, and commercialisation to complement China’s scale, investment capacity, and industrial development, creating pathways for mutually beneficial growth.
