Following UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper’s visit to China, during which she met Chinese Vice President Han Zheng in Beijing and co-chaired the UK-China Strategic Dialogue with Foreign Minister Wang Yi before travelling to Shenzhen for a programme focused on scientific and technological innovation. Jack Perry, Chairman of the 48 Group, joined CGTN to discuss the future of UK-China cooperation and the opportunities emerging from technological transformation.
During the interview, Jack Perry highlighted technology as the central driver of future bilateral cooperation, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics, quantum computing, finance and green development. He argued that these technologies are increasingly becoming foundational layers across all sectors of the economy and will reshape the way businesses operate in the years ahead.
Commenting on Foreign Secretary Cooper’s visit to Shenzhen, Jack Perry described the city as one of the world’s leading innovation hubs, bringing together strengths in AI, advanced manufacturing, robotics and global supply chains. He noted that greater engagement with innovation ecosystems such as Shenzhen would create valuable opportunities for British businesses and strengthen practical cooperation between the UK and China.
