The 48 Group was honoured to attend the 2025 Lin-gang Special Area Global Investment Promotion Event held in London on 18 July 2025, hosted by the China Chamber of Commerce in the UK (CCCUK) at the Bank of China London Branch. The event was organised in partnership with the Lin-gang Special Area Administration, Bank of China Group Investment Co., Ltd., and the Bank of China London Branch, with additional support from ICBC London and the Shanghai Foreign Investment Development Board .
This marked the first official Lin-gang delegation to host an investment promotion event in the UK, highlighting the strategic importance of strengthening UK–Shanghai economic relations across advanced manufacturing, financial services, and smart industrial zones.
The occasion was particularly meaningful for the 48 Group, as it featured keynote speeches by both Stephen Perry, former Chairman and current Honorary President of the 48 Group, and Jack Perry Jr., the current Chairman of the 48 Group and Chief Executive of London Export Corporation. This was the first time that both father and son shared the stage at a major UK–China commercial dialogue, symbolising the continuity of trust and vision between generations of UK–China cooperation.
Stephen Perry, recipient of the China Reform and Friendship Medal personally awarded by President Xi Jinping in 2018, spoke of the 48 Group’s founding legacy and long-standing partnership with China dating back to 1953. He emphasised the pivotal role Shanghai has played in reform, opening-up and high-quality development.
Jack Perry Jr. spoke on future collaboration in technology, AI, advanced manufacturing, and sustainable logistics. He highlighted the value of enduring partnerships that align with China’s long-term development strategies and the opportunities for British companies to participate in Lin-gang’s rise as a hub of innovation and international trade.
The 48 Group confirmed it will lead a new delegation to Shanghai later this year, with Lin-gang as a key stop, further reinforcing its mission to foster mutual understanding and enterprise between the UK and China.
